Sinclair Properties donate to, sponsor and support a number of charitable causes throughout the year. Although we are a small company, we feel it is important to give something back, particularly to local charities/events and to our student clients.

Below is a summary of some of the support we have given to good causes over the last couple of years:

January 2019

Sinclair Properties donated towards the Heslington Village playground repairs fund.

This contribution has enabled us to complete the replacement of safety surfacing around the play-tower and the charity's management committee are extrmely grateful for this.

Sinclair Properties sponsored a York Student to support the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.  The DOE currently support around 300,000 young people each year.

Sinclair Properties sponsored a York student on the Rebuild Nepal project. This is in aid of the 2015 earthquakes which destroyed 8,000 schools and killed 9,000 people.
The company organising the event is called Rare Adventures. They're an ethical non-profit organisation.

Sinclair Properties made a donation to SASH to help them raise funds at the Fossgate Festival.
They helped raise enough money to be able to provide 15 nights of emergency accommodation for young people facing homelessness in the community.

Sinclair Properties carried out work at the Heslington Scout Hut to help keep on top of the ongoing maintenance and provide a safe and pleasant environment for the Scouts to hold their meetings.

Sinclair Properties sponsored 'Sing for SASH' campaign to celebrate the 20th anniversary of SASH.
SASH prevent young people from becoming homeless by offering them a room in a home of a volunteer.

Sinclair Properties donated a computer to Brunswick Nursery which is a productive workplace for those who suffer from learning difficulties. The staff have been using it to learn new computer skills which has been of great benefit to them.

Sinclair Properties donated to the Disaster Emergency Commission appeal for the Philippines Typhoon appeal. 

Typhoon Haiyan was 300 miles across when it struck the Philippines on the 8th of November and one of the most intense tropical storms to ever make landfall anywhere in the world. It brought torrential rain, sustained winds of over 195mph and a storm surge of up to 30 feet that devastated coastal areas.

“When I decided that I wanted to take part in the York Marathon there was only one charity that I wanted to support. This condition is not well known and those affected, and their families, have an awful lot to contend with. The illness is progressive and the age of onset makes it particularly difficult for families to deal with .  Total time was 4:20:50The weather was fine and the support along the route was uplifting. Sinclair Properties sponsored Kevin Hilton in the first ever Yorkshire Marathon held in York on 26 October 2013 and raised over £500 for Parkinsons UK.

In total I raised over £500 with a good proportion of this coming from you, so a huge thanks for your generosity and for supporting such a great charity. Pleased to say that I finished the race, albeit with a lower time than anticipated at 4hrs 51 ('only' just over 2 and half hours behind the winner!). A fantastic day and experience, although a tough one for the legs and knees, which towards the end weren't able to keep pace with a fellow-runner dressed as a banana! Sinclair Properties sponsored a York Student to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for “Hope for Children”


Thank you so much to Sinclair Properties for their donation to “HOPE for Children”, the charity which I am supporting when I climb Mount Kilimanjaro in September.  The Money will be spent of the Amaru Children’s home in the Moshi district of Tanzania which aims to take homeless, orphaned and abused children off the streets and into care.  Many thanks again – I am extremely grateful for the donation. Sinclair Properties have sponsored a Heslington Resident, Georgia Marsden who plays football as part of the York U17 Girls Centre of Excellence, based at York College.  The Centre of Excellence program is run by the FA as a registered Charity for Category 'A' players.  Georgia has been part of the Centre for the past four years and has twice been selected to attend regional England Trials.  Georgia is in her final year with the Centre and plays league matches throughtout the North East.  There are only 30 such Centres in the UK who offer this level of elite football and the England squad will only recruit from these Centres.

Sinclair Properties made a donation to a local student who completed a skydive to raise money for the Laura Crane Trust. This charity supports research into cancer in young people, and until 1996 (when the trust was founded) there were no organisations investigating cancer in people aged 13 - 24. Since then, research has progressed into the types of cancer affecting young people and the possible treatments available to them.

Sinclair Properties donated to the Sophie Atay Appeal ~ Sophie Atay was born fit and healthy on 15 November 2007 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. One day whilst drying Sophie after her usual bath her mother felt a lump on the left side of her tummy. After numerous and frustrating hospital visits over a 10 day period Sophie was diagnosed with neuroblastoma stage 4 (high risk) on Monday 16 February 2009. Sophie's family are now looking to raise funds to take her to the Memorial Slone Kettering Hospital in New York for treatment.

Sinclair Properties made a sizable donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) appeal for victims of the unprecedented floods in Pakistan.

Over 1,600 people are reported to have died and 20 million people are believed to have been affected by the floods. In the aftermath there is now a serious risk to survivors from potentially deadly diseases, including cholera, which can spread as a result of contaminated surface and drinking water.

The money raised will help fund the life saving work in Pakistan of the DEC's Members which are the lead UK aid agencies and their partners.

Sinclair Properties made a donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) appeal for victims of the devastatiing Haiti Earthquake.

A devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on January 12th 2010. It was the worst earthquake to hit the country in 200 years. Up to three million people live in the area worst hit by the quake, which centred 10 miles south-west of the densely populated capital Port-Au-Prince. The latest estimates are 230,000 people killed, 300,000 injured and 1.2 million left needing emergency shelter. Survivors lost family, homes, livelihoods and essential services. Hospitals, schools and government buildings were all destroyed.

Sinclair Properties sponsored York based landlord Ian Mcbeth to participate in a 20 mile sponsored night hike through the streets of London on 18th Setember to raise money for Maggies Cancer Care Centres. These centres give support for those suffering from the effects of cancer.

Sinclair Properties sponsored and donated a 'meal for two' raffle prize to the University of York end of year Big D party. This years theme was 'WonDerland' and featured three venues: A Mad Hatters Tea Party, Laserquest, Silent Disco and Teacups. The event attracted 1,400 students and raised lots of money for York & Disrtict Mind, University of York RAG, Teenage Cancer Trust and the Ron Weir Memorial Fund.
